About the role

Project Planner 📍 Newcastle upon Tyne 🕒 12‑month contract | Outside IR35 We are currently seeking a Project Planner to join a UK delivery team supporting large‑scale energy and infrastructure projects. This role is critical to the successful planning, scheduling, and control of complex EPC programmes, providing clear visibility of progress, risks, and performance throughout the full project lifecycle. The Role You will be responsible for supporting planning activities from early project development through to execution, working closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams. Your responsibilities will include: * Supporting EPC projects from proposal stage (developing baseline schedules) through execution * Developing and maintaining detailed project schedules, objectives, and milestones * Ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed of progress, deadlines, and critical path activities * Documenting planning processes and schedule changes, maintaining accurate audit trails * Reviewing and integrating subcontractor, partner, and supplier schedules and WBS into the master programme * Monitoring construction and delivery performance against the approved baseline plan * Maintaining strict version control of schedules and associated documentation * Identifying deviations from plan, escalating risks, and proposing corrective actions in a timely manner * Developing and tracking KPIs in support of project objectives * Producing progress updates, milestone reports, dashboards, graphs, and charts for internal and external reporting * Resource and cost loading of schedules, working closely with cost control to track progress and variances What You Bring * 2+ years’ experience in a planning role with responsibility for schedule development * Strong Primavera P6 experience or relevant site‑based planning background * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline * Project Management certification (desirable) * Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills * Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capability * Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines * Proactive mindset with a strong team‑orientated approach * Technical understanding of power, energy, or infrastructure projects
