Senior Process Safety Engineer

A senior, business‑critical opportunity for a Process Safety Engineer to shape and strengthen global Functional Safety standards across complex operating assets. This role combines technical authority in SIL/SIS with high‑impact site engagement, audit leadership and specialist support across Europe and beyond. Description Key responsibilities Act as a Functional Safety subject‑matter expert, providing direct support to operating sites across the full safety lifecycle Lead and facilitate LOPA and SIL assessments, with a strong focus on practical, owner‑operator environments Deliver design support for Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Perform Design Verification, Functional Safety Assessments (FSA) and lifecycle compliance reviews Support and, where required, lead process safety‑related incident investigations Develop and deliver training in process safety and Functional Safety methodologies Participate in global process safety audits, including site self‑assessment programmes Contribute to the ongoing development and strengthening of global process safety standardsProfile The successful candidate Degree‑qualified (BSc or equivalent), ideally in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline Proven experience in process or equipment design and/or operations with strong Functional Safety exposure Holds a recognised Functional Safety qualification (CFSE, TÜV FS Engineer or equivalent) Demonstrable experience leading SIL / LOPA studies within operating plants Strong working knowledge of IEC / ISA 61511 and related process safety legislation Confident communicator with the ability to influence, guide and challenge at all organisational levels Comfortable operating in an international environment with frequent site interaction Willing and able to travel extensively (typically 50-65%, primarily within Europe) Additional experience in PHA facilitation, alarm management, human factors or area classification is advantageousJob Offer What's on offer Competitive salary of £80,000 - £85,000 Performance related bonus A highly influential, expert‑level role within a global Process Safety Centre of Excellence Fully remote working with flexibility on location Exposure to complex, high‑hazard manufacturing environments across multiple regions The opportunity to shape global standards and make a tangible impact on safety performance A collaborative, people‑focused culture with strong technical respect and long‑term career potential If you are ready to take the next step in your career as an Senior Process Safety Engineer in the industrial and manufacturing sector, we encourage you to apply today
