About the role

We're working with a highly regarded professional services organisation seeking an experienced People Partner to join its People team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

This is a broad generalist role combining business partnering, employee relations, people projects and operational HR support. Working closely with leaders and managers across both fee-earning and business services teams, you'll provide practical, commercially focused advice while supporting a range of people initiatives and change programmes.

The role would suit an experienced HR professional who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day advisory work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers and senior stakeholders to provide pragmatic advice across the full employee lifecycle
  • Build trusted relationships and develop a strong understanding of business priorities and challenges
  • Lead and manage complex employee relations matters, ensuring compliance and effective risk management
  • Coach and support managers to develop confidence and capability in people management
  • Act as an escalation point for people-related queries across areas including onboarding, probation, family leave, flexible working and employee departures
  • Support business change initiatives and organisational projects, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement throughout
  • Contribute to salary review and reward processes
  • Monitor and interpret employment law developments, translating legislative changes into practical policy and process improvements
  • Lead and support a range of HR projects, policy reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Draft and review complex HR documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Monitor absence management activity and support managers with appropriate interventions
  • Provide guidance on hybrid working and workplace attendance matters
  • Analyse people data and workforce trends to support decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, reporting requirements and action planning
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of HR policies, processes and ways of working


Person Specification

  • Proven HR generalist experience across the full employee lifecycle
  • Strong business partnering skills with the ability to build credibility quickly across a wide stakeholder group
  • Experience providing commercially focused advice to managers and senior leaders
  • Strong employee relations experience and a sound understanding of UK employment law
  • Experience managing complex and sensitive people matters with good judgement and discretion
  • Previous involvement in HR projects, organisational change or process improvement initiatives
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical approach with experience using people data to inform recommendations and decisions
  • Collaborative, adaptable and solutions-focused mindset
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • CIPD qualification, or working towards, would be advantageous
