As a Cover Supervisor, you will take charge of classes in a teacher's absence, ensuring pupils remain focused, well-behaved, and productively engaged with pre-set work. Responsibilities: Take charge of classes across a variety of subjects during teacher absences Distribute and oversee pre-prepared lesson materials, keeping students on task throughout Uphold a structured, calm, and positive learning environment at all times Address and manage pupil behaviour in line with the school's policies Provide support and encouragement to students as they work through assigned activities Escalate any concerns or incidents to the relevant teaching or pastoral staff Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and safety within the classroom Requirements: Experience working with children or young people in any setting is desirable The self-assurance to manage a class independently and with authority Clear, effective communication skills and strong attention to detail An organised approach with the ability to follow instructions and adapt quickly A patient, dependable, and approachable manner Enthusiasm for supporting young people and contributing to their education An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to complete a new application) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application.
