Secondary Teaching Assistant

Veritas Education are currently working in partnership with a range of secondary schools across Kirklees to recruit committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people in a secondary school setting and making a positive impact on pupils' academic progress and wellbeing. The Role: As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will: Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons Work with individuals or small groups to help pupils access the curriculum Provide targeted support for students with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs Assist with classroom behaviour management in line with school policies Help create a safe, supportive and positive learning environment The Ideal Candidate Will: Have experience working with children or young people aged 11-16 (school-based experience desirable) Be patient, reliable and confident in supporting behaviour and learning Have strong communication and interpersonal skills Be able to work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service Desirable (but not essential): Previous experience in a secondary school setting Knowledge of SEND or behaviour support strategies Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, Supporting Teaching & Learning) What Veritas Education Offer: Competitive daily rates of pay Flexible work to suit your availability Ongoing professional support from a dedicated consultant Opportunities for long-term and permanent placements Access to CPD and safeguarding training Safeguarding: Veritas Education are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
