Location : Manchester - Hybrid

Salary : £60,000-£75,000 plus bonus We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join a leading global technology consultancy, delivering innovative digital products and software engineering solutions across a diverse range of industries. This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-performing engineering teams, working on large-scale products used by millions of people. You'll combine hands-on technical expertise with technical leadership, helping to build modern cloud-native applications while mentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence across client engagements.

Key Responsibilities as a Lead Software Engineer

Lead the design, development and delivery of modern software solutions across frontend, backend or full-stack environments. Provide hands-on technical leadership while mentoring and developing engineering teams. Build scalable, cloud-native applications using modern engineering practices. Work closely with clients to understand requirements and deliver high-quality digital products. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines to support automated delivery. Promote best practices across software quality, accessibility, security, performance and scalability. Contribute to engineering communities by sharing knowledge, driving technical standards and supporting continuous improvement. Travel to client sites across the UK as required to support project delivery.

Experience you'll need as a Lead Software Engineer

Commercial software engineering experience across Frontend, Backend or Full Stack development. Strong experience with one or more of the following technologies: Java, TypeScript, Python, Go or C#. Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue or Svelte. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure or GCP. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK or Pulumi. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI or ArgoCD. Strong understanding of accessibility, security, performance optimisation and caching best practices. Proven experience leading engineering teams and mentoring developers.
