Front End Developer - Design System

Location: UK-based, with some travel to Taunton
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum, plus benefits
Security Clearance: BPSS required

The Role

We're looking for a Front End Developer who specialises in design systems to help build, maintain and drive adoption of a government design system. You'll create accessible, reusable components that teams across the programme can rely on, and you'll support their rollout through documentation, communication and hands-on adoption help.

This is a Front End specialist role. We want someone who has built or maintained component libraries and cares about accessibility, performance and developer experience

What You'll Be Doing

• Build and maintain a government-standard component library and design system.

• Audit and remediate components to WCAG 2.2 AA.

• Develop Front End components in the design system's existing stack, packaged and versioned for reuse.

• Work with designers using Figma (including Dev Mode and Figma Make) to turn designs into production components.

• Support change, communications and adoption activity for design system rollout across delivery teams.

• Write and maintain automated tests, with component testing through Storybook and Chromatic.
