On behalf of our client—a major member-owned buying group—we need a Commercial Manager to lead their Utilities division. This isn't about following a procurement process; it’s about market timing, negotiation, and commercial edge. What You’ll Do * Play the Market: Monitor live energy and fuel pricing to time the market, securing fixed-price deals and flexible packages that protect members from volatility. * Lead the Negotiation: Leverage a multi-million-pound collective spend to challenge supplier margins and secure "sharp" pricing. * Innovate: Identify new revenue streams and product areas, from Renewables to advanced Fuel Monitoring. * Coach the Team: Lead and mentor a team of five specialists, fostering a high-performance, member-first culture. What You Bring * Sector Expertise: knowledge of the fuel or energy markets (Electric, Gas, or Liquid Fuels like Gas Oil and Diesel). * The "Gamekeeper" Mindset: You understand the supplier’s playbook and know how to use that knowledge to get a better deal for the buyer. * Decisiveness: You thrive in fast-moving commodity markets where quick, data-driven decisions save thousands.
