MRICS Building SurveyorLondon / Nottingham | 45,000 - 60,000 + Benefits | Hybrid & Flexible WorkingWe're working with a well-established, independent construction consultancy with a history spanning more than 50 years and a growing Building Surveying team.Due to an increase in work, this consultancy is looking for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to join their close-knit team in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a varied role across public and private sector projects, with the flexibility to work between London and Nottingham.The Role This is a genuinely varied Building Surveying position, with no two weeks likely to look the same.You'll be involved in projects from initial inspection and investigation through to reporting, specification, procurement and delivery. The role will involve working closely with clients, contractors and other professional teams, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your projects and develop strong client relationships.Carrying out building condition surveys across a diverse range of propertiesUndertaking defect diagnosis and building pathology investigations, identifying causes and recommending appropriate remedial solutionsCompleting damp and mould surveys and preparing detailed technical reportsUndertaking planned preventative maintenance (PPM) surveys for education, healthcare and public sector propertiesCarrying out measured surveys and producing drawings using AutoCADPreparing schedules of condition, specifications, schedules of work and tender documentationProviding advice on repair, maintenance and refurbishment requirementsActing as Contract Administrator on refurbishment and maintenance projectsManaging projects from inception through to completion, including monitoring programmes, costs, quality and riskAssisting with procurement and tender exercises, including reviewing contractor returns and making recommendationsCarrying out regular site inspections and monitoring works against specificationsInvestigating insurance claims and building defects, providing technical advice and supporting the claims processUndertaking dilapidations surveys and reportsPreparing professional reports and presenting findings and recommendations to clientsManaging multiple instructions and projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detailBuilding and maintaining long-term relationships with clients and other project stakeholdersProject values typically range from around 25,000 to 250,000 +, with the portfolio spanning residential, healthcare, education, public sector and commercial property.What they're looking for We're looking for an experienced MRICS Building Surveyor who is comfortable working across a broad range of instructions and can manage their own workload.MRICS qualificationStrong general Building Surveying experienceContract Administration experienceExperience undertaking condition and defect surveysStrong report writing and technical knowledgeAutoCAD experienceGood knowledge of building pathology and remedial worksStrong organisational and time-management skillsThe confidence to deal directly with clients and contractorsA full UK driving licence would be advantageous due to the site-based nature of some of the workExperience within the public sector or historic buildings would be particularly beneficial.Package & Benefits45,000 - 60,000 salary, depending on experience27 days annual leave, including three days over ChristmasHybrid workingFlexible working hoursProfessional subscriptions and fees paidPerformance-related bonus opportunitiesTravel expenses covered Genuine opportunities for progression as the Building Surveying team continues to growIf you're based in London, Nottingham or somewhere with easy access to both, and are looking for a new challenge, apply now!Aldwych Consulting values diversity and promotes equality.
