About the role
Would you like to launch a brand new SEND educational employability project?
Supported Internships are structured study programmes that help young people with learning disabilities and/or autism gain the skills and experience needed for paid employment. They combine workplace learning with job coaching and personalised support, usually based at an employer’s site.
We’re looking for an experienced and driven leader to launch a brand-new Supported Internships site in the West Midlands. You’ll build partnerships, recruit a new team, and prepare the programme for learners to start in the 2026–27 academic year.
You’ll oversee delivery within employer settings, ensuring the programme meets regulatory, funding, and quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll create a safe, ambitious, and inclusive environment for young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead operational delivery in line with inspection, funding, and awarding body requirements.
Drive continuous improvement and monitor KPIs such as learner progress and employment outcomes.
Build strong relationships with employers, local authorities, and families.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding and contractual obligations.
Recruit, manage, and develop your team.About You:
Proven track record in managing education, SEND, or supported employment programmes.
Strong understanding of compliance, safeguarding, and quality frameworks.
Skilled in partnership building, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
Confident in leading teams, managing budgets, and delivering results.
You might have previously worked as a curriculum manager, education manager, SendCo, IQA, Internal Quality Assurer, Learning and Skills Manager or SEND Lead.
