Business Development Manager
About the role
Business Development Manager | Electronics Manufacturing (Field Based)
We are working with a well-established, owner-managed electronics manufacturing business that is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager.
This is a genuine new-business role focused on identifying, developing and winning new OEM customers. You will take ownership of opportunities from initial prospecting through to contract award, before transitioning new customers into the Key Account Management team.
The company is looking for someone who can operate with autonomy, open doors and build credible relationships.
The Role
* Identify and target new OEM customers across the UK.
* Take ownership of the sales process from initial contact through to contract award.
* Generate new opportunities through networking, referrals, industry contacts, LinkedIn, telephone and face-to-face activity.
* Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
* Understand customers’ technical, commercial and manufacturing requirements.
* Work closely with engineering, production and commercial teams throughout the quotation and sales process.
* Develop relationships with stakeholders across engineering, procurement, operations and senior management.
* Represent the business at customer meetings, networking events and relevant industry exhibitions.
* Work closely with the Sales Manager and Key Account Management team to ensure a smooth handover of new customers.
* Bring new ideas to the table and help shape the company’s new-business strategy.
About You
* Previous experience in a new-business-focused, Technical Sales or Commercial role.
* A background in electronics manufacturing, CEM/EMS, PCBA or a similar technical manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
* Experience selling manufacturing services or technical solutions to OEM customers.
* A proven ability to create opportunities rather than relying solely on inbound enquiries or existing accounts.
* Comfortable managing longer, consultative and technically complex sales cycles.
* Able to build relationships with technical, operational and commercial decision-makers.
* Commercially aware with experience of RFQs, quotations and contract negotiations.
* Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a field-based role.
* Proactive, credible and confident opening conversations with new customers.
* Able to operate effectively within an owner-managed, non-corporate business.
The Opportunity
This is a dedicated new-business position with the freedom to build relationships and shape how the company approaches the market.
The business offers a flexible, non-corporate environment where people are trusted to manage their own time, contribute ideas and take ownership of their work. It has established manufacturing capabilities, a strong reputation and several developing opportunities with the potential to become significant long-term accounts.
If you have experience winning new OEM customers within electronics or technical manufacturing and would be interested in discussing the opportunity confidentially, please get in touch
