Data Cabling EngineerBirmingham (Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, QE, Heartlands, Coventry, Wolverhampton), On-site£25,000 – £35,000 + Overtime, No Sponsorship Available

VIQU have partnered with a well-established telecoms and infrastructure specialist delivering critical cabling and wireless solutions across healthcare environments. This organisation has a strong reputation for quality delivery across NHS sites, offering a mix of BAU and project work, with clear opportunities to progress into project-focused roles for ambitious engineers.

This is a hands-on role working across multiple hospital sites, installing and maintaining structured cabling and wireless infrastructure. You’ll be part of a team environment (no lone working), contributing to essential connectivity projects in live environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) including outlets and patch panels
  • Test cabling using Fluke DTX 5000 (or equivalent)
  • Install wireless access points across hospital sites
  • Record and document all installations and test results
  • Support fibre cabling work when required
  • Work in line with CSCS/ESC standards and site safety regulations

Key Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in data cabling installation and testing
  • Strong experience with structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a)
  • Fluke testing experience (DTX 5000 or similar)
  • CSCS or ESC card
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Based in or around Birmingham
  • Comfortable working in live environments (e.g. hospitals)
  • Fibre experience beneficial

Package & Benefits

  • £25,000 – £35,000 (DOE)
  • Overtime available (enhanced weekday and weekend rates)
  • 37.5-hour working week (shift patterns: 6–2, 8–4, 9–5)
  • 30 days holiday (including bank holidays)
  • Vehicle may be provided
  • Progression opportunities into project roles
