An established restoration contractor with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional standards on Grade I and Grade II listed buildings is seeking a motivated Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join its growing team. With a consistent flow of high-quality projects and industry recognition, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Current projects include the Slade School of Fine Art, Northington Grange, and the Imperial War Museum.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for restoration and refurbishment works, including labour, materials, and overheads. The role involves managing tender enquiries, compiling subcontract packages, and undertaking detailed cost comparisons to ensure competitive and commercially sound submissions.
You will carry out site visits and project assessments to inform pricing, provide pre- and post-contract commercial advice, and support delivery teams with valuations, variations, and final accounts. The position also includes reviewing contract documentation, assisting with dispute resolution, and managing Extension of Time (EoT) claims where required.
In addition, you will lead or support tender submissions, including preparing documentation, attending presentations, and negotiating post-tender. Building and maintaining strong client relationships is key, alongside monitoring project costs, implementing cost control measures, and reporting regularly to senior management on enquiry performance and success rates.
Skills & Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience in estimating or quantity surveying within construction, with exposure to restoration or refurbishment projects. You should demonstrate strong commercial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
A solid understanding of construction processes, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of delivering profitable results are essential. You will be a self-motivated individual with a proactive approach, capable of building strong working relationships and contributing to business growth.
