About the role
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cnc Turner Setter Operator to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, proving out and optimising CNC lathes, ensuring machines are correctly prepared and running efficiently to manufacture high-quality, precision-engineered components.
The role will involve machine setup, tooling changes, offset adjustments and process control, alongside supporting operators during production runs. You will also be responsible for carrying out in-process quality checks and responding to any production or quality issues to minimise downtime and scrap.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong background in CNC turning and machine setting who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality components.
Key Responsibilities
* Set and prepare CNC turning machinery for production.
* Carry out tooling changes, tool setting and offset adjustments.
* Read and work from engineering drawings and production documentation.
* Ensure machines are correctly set and producing components to specification.
* Monitor machining processes and make adjustments where required.
* Carry out dimensional checks using standard inspection equipment.
* Identify tooling, machine or process issues and take appropriate action.
* Support production operators with technical and setting requirements.
* Replace tooling when required and maintain consistent machining performance.
* Help maintain production efficiency and minimise machine downtime.
* Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
* Complete relevant production and quality records.
* Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve issues.
* Follow company procedures and all relevant health & safety requirements..
The Candidate
Previous experience as a CNC Lathe Setter / CNC Turner / CNC Setter Operator.
Strong experience setting CNC turning machinery.
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience setting tooling, offsets and workholding.
Experience using precision measuring equipment for in-process inspection.
A good understanding of machining processes, tooling and cutting conditions.
The ability to identify and resolve basic production and quality issues.
A strong focus on quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
Good understanding of health & safety within a manufacturing environment.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
The Package
£18.00 – £20.00 per hour (£36,500- £40,500)
4 day working week
