Vehicle & Plant Technician / Mechanic (19/695) Castle Douglas £Vehicle & Plant Mechanic Abercromby Workshop, Abercromby Depot, Castle Douglas, DG7 1LH Hours: 36 hours per week, with optional overtime Pay: Time and a half for regular overtime, double time for unsociable hours Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a skilled Vehicle & Plant Mechanic to support its vehicle maintenance operations at our Abercromby workshop in Castle Douglas. You'll be part of a professional, well-organised team working in a modern, fully equipped facility. 35 days of annual leave (rising to 40 days after 5 years of service) ~ Local Government Pension Scheme ~ Personal Training Plan tailored to your development ~ IRTEC accreditation in HGV and PSV maintenance ~ All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform provided ~ Career progression opportunities within our Transport structure Your Role You’ll be responsible for maintaining the Council’s wide-ranging fleet, which includes: Small plant equipment HGVs and buses Minibuses, vans, and cars Tasks will include scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, test preparation, and repairs in line with Transport and Health & Safety legislation. There is also potential to train as a Class IV, V, and VII MOT tester.
