Assistant Buyer – Temporary

London | Hybrid | Start ASAP | Short-Term Contract

We’re working with a leading lifestyle retailer who are looking for a confident and fashion-focused Assistant Buyer to join their team on a temporary basis, providing short-term cover.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced apparel product specialist who can hit the ground running and is comfortable working across product ordering, approvals and fit.

The Role

You’ll work closely with the Buying and Product teams, playing a key role in keeping the apparel product journey moving from development through to order.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting product ordering and ensuring orders are accurate and placed on time
• Managing sample approvals, chasing feedback and keeping sign-offs on track
• Attending and supporting fit sessions, recording detailed comments and following up on amendments
• Working closely with suppliers and internal teams throughout the product development process
• Managing product information, critical paths and key deadlines
• Tracking samples, approvals and changes to ensure the range stays on schedule
• Flagging issues and delays and proactively helping to resolve them
• Providing day-to-day support to the Buyer and wider team

About You

We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of apparel product development and a genuine passion for fashion.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience within apparel buying, product development or a similar role
• Hands-on experience with product ordering and approvals
• Confidence supporting fit sessions and communicating garment comments
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work at pace
• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with suppliers
• A commercial mindset and a keen eye for product
• The flexibility and availability to start ASAP for a short-term assignment
