About the role
Applications are invited for the Full Time post as a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry based with NHS Grampian and Hosted MH services (Aberdeen City HSCP). You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care to the half‑million people in Grampian.
You will be based predominantly within the Blair Unit, Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen and HMP Grampian. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team comprising Nursing, Clinical Psychology and Occupational Therapy. The role involves outpatient and inpatient services (including Intensive Psychiatric Care IPCU) and prison‑based work at HMP Grampian.
Eligibility and qualifications:
- UK‑trained doctors must have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- CESR or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post only after specialist registration is awarded.
- Doctors with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC require confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Doctors not listed on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. During locum employment an application for CESR or Portfolio Pathway Specialist Registration can be submitted to GMC.
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence must be in place before starting in post).
