Underwriter

Job Title: Underwriting Specialist Location - Slough - Hybrid working. We’re looking for an experienced Underwriting Specialist to join our team within the finance sector. The Role: You’ll be responsible for assessing credit risk and making informed lending decisions on customer finance applications. This includes manually underwriting proposals, reviewing financial information, and ensuring all decisions align with internal credit policies and service level targets. Key Responsibilities: * Assess and underwrite finance applications in line with credit policy * Analyse customer financial data and repayment capacity * Make clear “accept” or “decline” lending decisions * Manage and prioritise your own workflow to meet service levels * Handle dealer and internal enquiries professionally * Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulations What We’re Looking For: * Previous experience in underwriting or credit analysis (ideally 3+ years) * Strong analytical skills and attention to detail * Ability to interpret financial statements and credit reports * Confident decision-maker with good communication skills * Organised, proactive, and able to manage workload effectively Desirable: * Experience in automotive or consumer finance * Knowledge of credit scoring or risk modelling If you’re a detail-driven professional with a strong understanding of credit risk, this is a great opportunity to grow your career in a fast-paced environment
