An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Fleet Engineer to join a rapidly growing, market‑leading operator supporting the offshore renewable energy sector. This is a hybrid role, ideally suited to candidates based in the North of England, with travel required to the company’s HQ in Yorkshire and to vessels operating across the UK and Europe.
This position offers a hands-on, varied, and highly autonomous engineering role within a fast‑paced marine environment.
The Role
As a Fleet Engineer, you will play a critical part in ensuring the safety, performance, and operational readiness of a fleet of modern, Class‑approved Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs).
Your responsibilities will include:
Fleet Maintenance & Technical Support
- Conduct inspections, maintenance and repairs across the fleet.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and heating system faults.
- Work with main engines, generators, gearboxes, auxiliary systems, and vessel control systems.
- Perform performance testing and root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
Electrical & Electronic Systems
- Support marine electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, switchboards, emergency power, and fire detection.
- Carry out electrical surveys, earth fault investigations, and condition monitoring.
Planned Maintenance & Asset Management
- Manage and improve the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Lead proactive condition checks across the fleet.
- Identify recurring trends and implement preventative engineering strategies.
- Plan major system overhauls, upgrades, and replacements.
New Builds, Dockings & Compliance
- Act as the technical representative at shipyards during new builds, refits, and warranty periods.
- Attend dockings as required and support class, flag, and QHSE compliance.
Operational Support
- Work closely with vessel crews to support safe, effective operation.
- Provide technical advice, on-call support (2 weeks in 4), and occasional sailing with vessels to resolve defects.
- Travel to UK and European ports as part of fleet support.
About You
Essential
- Recognised engineering qualification: NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or degree in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
- Proven experience in marine engineering or fleet engineering across multi‑disciplinary systems.
- Strong diagnostic, problem‑solving and technical troubleshooting capability.
- Able to read and use technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
- Confident communicator able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Full UK driving licence, willingness to travel and provide on‑call cover. xwzovoh
