Role Description
The Assistant Functions Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Parliament Buildings at Stormont, Belfast, supporting the delivery of high-quality functions and events.
This role involves assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of events, ensuring that service runs smoothly and meets client expectations.
The Assistant Functions Manager will help oversee staff during events, support scheduling and task allocation, and maintain clear communication with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Daily responsibilities include monitoring service standards, handling guest queries and feedback, supporting health and safety compliance, and contributing to continuous improvement of event operations.
Qualifications
- Experience in event or functions management, hospitality, or food service operations, with the ability to assist in planning and delivering on-site events.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the capacity to coordinate multiple tasks, schedules, and priorities during busy functions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and engage professionally with clients and guests.
- Proven ability to support service quality, health and safety standards, and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Competence in basic administrative and reporting tasks, including use of standard office software and systems.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends as required by event schedules, and remain calm under pressure.
- Previous on-site hospitality or facilities management experience is highly beneficial; supervisory experience in events or catering is an advantage.
- Relevant vocational training or a qualification in hospitality, events management, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
