Head Housekeeper

We are looking for a Head Housekeeper to join our hospitality team and own the presentation and cleanliness of every property to the highest luxury standards.

Guests take Penicuik House, the estate's houses and cottages and the event spaces exclusively and at a premium, and they arrive expecting perfection: every room immaculate, every detail considered, nothing overlooked. Unlike a hotel, there is no front desk or restaurant to make up for a room that disappoints. Here the presentation of the properties is the product, and the Head Housekeeper owns that standard.

The role leads housekeeping across a blended model, working in close partnership with the estate's cleaning contractors, and building the estate's own team and casual pool alongside them over time. It plans the turnaround of every property around bookings, keeps standards consistently high whether the estate is full or quiet, manages linen, laundry and supplies, and works hand in hand with the House Managers so that guests always arrive to a home that is ready. Getting the very best from our cleaning partners is central to the role, and the person appointed will help shape how the housekeeping operation grows as the hospitality business grows with it.

This is a hands-on operational role, not a desk-based one. The Head Housekeeper is expected to be in the properties and working alongside the team: cleaning when the day demands it, turning over a cottage, delivering turndowns, and covering front-of-house shifts to support the House Managers when the operation needs it.
