About the role

Start Date: September 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, 1-Year Fixed Term (until July 2027) Salary: £24,000 - £29,500 per annum (Pro-rata / Term-time only) The Role Are you a dedicated Youth Worker looking to bring your expertise into the heart of a secondary school? We are seeking a dynamic and resilient Youth Worker to join our Blackpool-based secondary school team for the 2026/27 academic year. Moving beyond the community centre, you will work directly within the school environment to bridge the gap between academic education and personal development. You will be a relatable role model, supporting students aged 11-16 to overcome barriers to learning, raise their aspirations, and manage their social and emotional well-being. Key Responsibilities Mentorship & Intervention: Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions for students identified as vulnerable or at risk of exclusion. Classroom Support: Bring youth-work energy into the classroom to assist with behaviour management and student engagement. Program Delivery: Plan and facilitate workshops on topics such as healthy relationships, social skills, and emotional resilience. Pastoral Collaboration: Work closely with the school's Pastoral Leads and SENCo to ensure holistic support for every student. What We're Looking For Experience: Significant experience working with teenagers (aged 11-16) in youth clubs, alternative provision, or sports coaching. Resilience: A "Blackpool-strong" attitude you must be able to remain calm, firm, and empathetic in high-pressure situations. Communication: Exceptional active listening and counselling-style skills to build rapport with complex or disengaged students. Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 in Youth Work Practice (JNC recognised) or a related field (e.g., Social Work, Careers Guidance) is highly desirable. Commitment: Available to commit to the full academic year from September 2026 to July 2027. Why Choose This Role?
