About the role

SEMH Teacher - Alternative Provision Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term Rate: £140 - £220 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities) Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm As an SEMH Teacher, you will: Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to pupils with a range of SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs. Adapt teaching to individual needs, recognising that pupils may be working at different levels or have gaps in their education. Re-engage young people with learning through creative, practical and accessible teaching approaches. Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries. Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation using appropriate de-escalation, restorative and trauma-informed approaches. Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel supported to engage, achieve and develop their confidence.What We're Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification is desirable. Experience working within SEMH, SEN, Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist education would be highly advantageous. Alternatively, strong experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or additional needs within mainstream education. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm, consistent and professional in challenging situations. A flexible and adaptable teaching style with the ability to engage pupils who may have become disengaged from education. Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to establish trust with young people. An understanding of SEMH, trauma, attachment and barriers to learning.To be eligible, you must: Hold Right to Work in the UK. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one. Provide two professional, child-related references.Why Work With Us?
