About the role
SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Stanstead Abbotts, Hertfordshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 3:45pm (Term Time Only) including one after-school club per week 3.30pm to 5.15pm
Contract: Temp to Perm Opportunity
Salary: £14 - £15 per hour (depending on experience)
We are working with a specialist education setting that supports children and young people aged 2 to 19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, including those with multiple needs. The provision has a strong reputation for building positive relationships with families, professionals, and the wider community, and offers a well-resourced, engaging learning environment where pupils are supported to thrive.
Your role will involve:
Providing 1:1 and small group support
Assisting with personalised learning activities
Supporting pupils during swimming sessions (at least once a week)
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Encouraging communication and social interaction skills
Creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:
Patient, nurturing, and resilient
Passionate about working with children and young people with additional needs
Experienced in SEN settings (desirable but not essential - training provided)
Confident supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, and communication needs
Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and colleague
Have an enhanced Adult & Child DBS on the update service
