About the role
Contek Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager for a precision engineering client. The company is located in Scotland, however the role would be covering the whole of the UK, mainly England.

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB ROLE: Business Development Manager
JOB TYPE: Full-time, permanent.
ROLE LOCATION: Hybrid/Remote – Flexible
COVERAGE: United Kingdom
WORKING HOURS: 38 hours per week – Monday to Friday
SALARY/PAY: Around £50,000 per year (Flexible - Dependent on Experience)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Identify and develop new business opportunities within precision engineering and subcontract machining markets.
* Generate leads through networking, cold outreach, exhibitions, and customer visits.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
* Manage sales activities from enquiry to order placement.
* Review customer drawings and technical specifications.
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to confirm feasibility and costings.
* Prepare and present quotations and proposals.
* Act as the primary technical-commercial contact during pre-sales.
* Maintain CRM records and sales forecasts.
PERSON REQUIREMENTS
* Experience in sales or business development within subcontract machining or precision manufacturing.
* Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and materials.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Willingness to travel for customer meetings.
* Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent experience) (Desirable)
* Experience in regulated quality environments (ISO 9001 / AS9100) (Desirable)
* Experience with CRM systems (Desirable)

* Base salary of around £50k per year – Flexible for the right person.
* Commission structure (To be discussed at interview stage).
