Science Technician (Full-Time) - Secondary Schools | Southwark
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Technician to join a thriving secondary school in Southwark on a full-time basis (5 days per week). This is an excellent role for an experienced individual who is passionate about supporting science education and contributing to a dynamic learning environment.
The Role
As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of engaging and practical science lessons across Key Stages 3-5. Working closely with teaching staff, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, ensuring laboratories are safe and well-organised, and assisting in the smooth running of the science department.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for practical lessons
Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained, cleaned, and stored appropriately
Support teachers and students during practical experiments when required
Monitor and manage stock levels, ordering supplies as needed
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
Contribute to the overall organisation and efficiency of the science departmentRequirements
Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school setting
Strong knowledge across one or more scientific disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
A relevant degree is preferred
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
