SEN Teaching Assistant – Creative & Outdoor Learning Focus
Location: Stourbridge
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: £95.13 – £110.23 per day
Smart Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an inspiring specialist educational provision in Stourbridge.
This is not your typical classroom-based role. This unique setting provides a creative, therapeutic, and outdoor-focused curriculum designed to support children and young people with complex social, emotional, and educational needs.

About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils through engaging and meaningful activities that help build confidence, independence, emotional wellbeing, and life skills.
The curriculum includes a range of practical and outdoor learning experiences such as:
Woodwork
Pottery and textiles
Cooking and food preparation
Gardening and animal care
Outdoor learning activitiesYou will play a key role in helping students feel safe, supported, and motivated to engage in education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND and behavioural needs
Support learners through a therapeutic and practical curriculum
Promote emotional wellbeing, confidence, and independence
Encourage engagement through creative and outdoor learning activities
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Act as a calm, consistent, and positive role model
Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
Previous experience working with children in education, SEND, or care settings
Access to your own reliable transport
Strong communication skills and emotional resilience
A calm, patient, and solution-focused approach
Interest in creative, practical, and outdoor learning
GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
