Location: East Midlands (projects within approximately 1-hour radius)
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + package
About the Company
A well-established regional construction business delivering commercial new build, fit-out, and refurbishment projects across sectors including education, office, and general commercial developments. Projects are typically delivered within a defined regional area, allowing for limited travel.
Role Overview
The Contracts Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of multiple construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a main contracting background who is comfortable managing several live sites and leading project teams.
Responsibilities
Manage multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion
Lead and coordinate site teams, including Project Managers, Site Managers, and subcontractors
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
Oversee programme planning, construction methodology, and site logistics
Monitor commercial performance, including costs, margins, variations, and risk
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact
Lead project meetings and provide clear progress and performance reporting
Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and quality standards
Drive team performance, resource planning, and continuous improvement
Requirements
Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager within a main contractor
Strong track record delivering commercial construction projects (e.g. new build, fit-out, refurbishment, education, or office schemes)
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills
Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management ability
Effective leadership and team management skills
Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
SMSTS / CSCS certification and full UK driving licence
