About the role
A leading consultancy is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a high-profile nuclear decommissioning project based at Westlakes, West Cumbria. The project involves extensive nuclear infrastructure work and is funded through government-backed programmes, offering the opportunity to contribute to a technically complex and strategically important initiative in the nuclear sector.
The successful candidate will support the commercial management of projects from early feasibility and procurement stages through to delivery and final account. The consultancy operates across multiple sectors, providing exposure to highly interesting and specialist schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the management of commercial aspects of the project, including cost planning, estimation, and monitoring.
Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, and risk registers for project teams.
Assist in the review and management of subcontractor and supplier contracts to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Support procurement activities, including tender evaluation and contract documentation.
Provide advice on contract administration, valuations, and change management.
Work closely with project management and engineering teams to help ensure projects are delivered on budget and on schedule.
Maintain awareness of relevant industry regulations, nuclear standards, and safety requirements.
Candidate Requirements:
Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy or construction environment.
Understanding of pre- and post-contract commercial management.
Experience delivering projects within infrastructure, engineering, or complex construction environments is advantageous.
Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
Good commercial awareness and reporting capability.
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
MRICS or working towards chartership is desirable.
Security cleared or able to obtain security clearance as required for nuclear sector projects.
