Role overview
You will assist with the leadership of the team, ensuring effective, safe and timely delivery of routine maintenance at M8 Fermoy/Watergrasshill Motorway Project.
What you'll do
Some of your main duties will include:
- Carrying out routine maintenance inspections as per pre-programmed requirements using GeoWorks.
- Planning, delegating and assisting with the day-to-day supervision and implementation of maintenance programmes relating to the road network and associated structures.
- Ensuring that programmes of planned & preventive maintenance and works orders are implemented.
- Ensuring that all maintenance equipment is inspected on a regular basis in accordance with statutory requirements and supplier guidelines.
- Hands-on implementation of the day-to-day Project Road maintenance requirements.
- Providing call-out cover to out-of-office hours emergency responses.
- Supervising routine maintenance activities (and carry out maintenance when required) including but not limited to:
- Traffic Management
- Winter Maintenance including monitoring of the Vaisala ice detection system
- Emergency Response
- Structures Maintenance
- Incident Damage Repair
- Road Furniture cleaning
- Landscaping / Grass cutting
- Litter collection
- General maintenance duties
- Providing 24/7 on-call cover, on a rostered basis, and working outdoors in all weathers, including adverse conditions.
- Assisting with toolbox talks, annual reviews, investigations, and ensuring our policies and procedures are understood and adhered to.
- Tracking and Managing employee training, PPE, and ensuring adequate resourcing.
- Liaise with other departments, to facilitate smooth, efficient and compliant operations.
- Promote health and safety as the top priority in all our works and operations.
- Promote the Lagan Values and help create a Great Place to Work for all.
What youll bring
As Assistant Manager, it is essential to have:
- A full, valid Class C driving licence.
- Valid Safe Pass certification.
- Traffic Management training for high-speed roads.
- Experience in Signing, Lighting and Guarding.
- Health & Safety training, including First Aid, fire warden and Manual Handling.
- Demonstrated experience of managing a team in a similar industry.
- Experience in implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- A sound awareness of the occupational hazards associated with maintenance activities and knowledge of the precautions required to control these risks.
