HR & Payroll Advisor

Are you confident running payroll, supporting managers and keen to make a lasting difference?

Were supporting an established construction and civil engineering business to recruit an experienced HR & Payroll Advisor/Officer. Supporting around 145 employees across office and site-based teams, youll combine hands-on payroll ownership with practical HR advice and support.

This role offers the opportunity to build relationships with managers, help them navigate people matters and bring greater consistency to everyday HR practices. Over time, youll also identify opportunities to improve processes and take a more proactive approach to supporting the workforce.

What youll be doing as HR & Payroll Advisor:

• Managing accurate, timely weekly and monthly payroll, including variable hours, overtime and employee changes.
• Advising and supporting managers on day-to-day people matters, constructively challenging approaches where needed.
• Coordinating employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, contracts, absence and probation reviews.
• Supporting employee relations matters, seeking specialist advice when needed.
• Supporting a new payroll system implementation and improving use of the existing HR platform.
• Identifying practical improvements to people processes, reporting and manager support.

What youll bring to the team as HR & Payroll Advisor:

• Practical HR advisory experience, with the confidence to guide managers, have constructive conversations and handle sensitive situations.
• Proven experience processing weekly and monthly payroll from start to finish.
• A hands-on approach, happy balancing advice and improvement work with essential administration.
• Strong organisation, sound judgement and attention to detail.
• An approachable communication style and confidence working with an operational workforce.
• Experience in construction, manufacturing or a similar environment would be ideal.
