Construction Project Manager

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Construction Project Manager on behalf of a respected regional main contractor to oversee the delivery of commercial, industrial, education and healthcare projects across the North East. Typical schemes range from £250k refurbishments through to £3m–£5m new‑build and extension projects, combining elements of civils, steelwork, fit‑out and building services. This role suits a driven, organised Project Manager who can take ownership, maintain strong client relationships, and lead site teams to deliver safe, high‑quality and commercially successful outcomes. The Role You will manage projects from pre‑construction through to handover, ensuring programme, quality, safety and commercial targets are achieved. Working closely with directors, commercial teams and site managers, you will coordinate design information, procurement, subcontractors and client communication. Projects typically include: * Commercial refurbishments and fit‑outs (£250k–£2m) * Industrial unit alterations and small new builds (£1m–£5m) * Education and healthcare refurbishments (£500k–£3m) * Civils and external works packages Key Responsibilities * Lead project delivery from pre‑start to completion * Develop and manage construction programmes * Coordinate design information, procurement and subcontractor packages * Chair progress meetings and maintain client communication * Oversee site performance, quality control and compliance * Manage project budgets, variations and commercial reporting * Ensure H&S and CDM compliance across all activities * Support and mentor Site Managers and Supervisors * Drive snagging, commissioning and final handover About You * Proven experience as a Project Manager within construction * Background delivering refurbishment, commercial, industrial or new‑build projects * Strong understanding of H&S, CDM, temporary works and construction sequencing * Confident managing multiple projects and stakeholders * Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills * Ability to work closely with commercial teams on cost control * SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS essential What’s On Offer * Salary £65k–£70k depending on experience * Company vehicle or allowance * Pension and benefits package * Opportunity to progress within a growing regional contractor * Varied workload across commercial, industrial, education and healthcare sectors For more info contact George French at Elvet Recruitment.
