Junior Design Engineer

Job Title: Junior Design Engineer Duration: Temp to Perm (3-6 month starting contract) Location: Onsite in Durham Rate/Salary: Hourly rate open to discussion; the salary is from £30,000 a year Junior Design Engineer Overview We are recruiting on behalf of a growing engineering and manufacturing business for a Junior Design Engineer to join their team. The role involves supporting the design and development of heavy-duty equipment and machinery attachments, producing 3D models and engineering drawings, and working closely with production teams. The Junior Design Engineer role will involve: Producing and updating 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings Assisting with the development of new engineered products and equipment solutions Tailoring existing designs to suit specific customer and project requirements Preparing technical information, parts lists, and design documentation Collaborating with manufacturing and commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle Supporting product enhancement initiatives and engineering change requests Reviewing designs to ensure they are practical, cost-effective, and suitable for production The Junior Design Engineer will need to have the following attributes: A degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in an engineering-related discipline Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks Good problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team A willingness to learn and develop within a manufacturing environment Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applicationsDesirable Skills & Experience Exposure to the design of fabricated steel products or structural components Knowledge of heavy equipment, machinery attachments, or related industrial sectors An understanding of common manufacturing techniques, including fabrication, welding, machining, and metal forming Application If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply with an up-to-date CV along with your availability and salary expectations.  Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.
