Design Engineer

Elevation Design & Projects are supporting a key client in Plymouth to recruit a skilled and innovative Design Engineer.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of designs across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to production, supporting both new and existing products in a technically demanding environment.

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead design and development of new products from specification through to production release
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions
• Maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation with full version control
• Design and support tooling, jigs, and fixtures for production
• Carry out mechanical analysis, validation, and compliance activities
• Support production with troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide technical support to sales, customers, and external partners
• Assist with cost estimation, project planning, and budget tracking

What we’re looking for:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Strong 3D CAD skills (Solid Edge / Teamcenter desirable)
• Proven design and problem-solving capability with a practical mindset
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and lead design xwzovoh reviews
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and best practices

Desirable experience includes:

• Background in a regulated industry (e.g. rail)
• Knowledge of welded fabrications and cast components
• Experience with composites and/or electrical principles
• Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as PDCA
