HR People Assistant

Manchester | Permanent | Hybrid working available once settled into the role

Are you an HR or People Assistant ready to take the next step in your career?

We are recruiting for a highly regarded and growing professional services organisation in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced and supportive People team where you will gain broad exposure across the full employee lifecycle.

If you already have some hands-on HR experience and are looking for greater responsibility, variety and genuine career development, this could be a brilliant next move.

The Opportunity

Working as part of an established People team, you will support employees and managers across a wide range of HR activities, including:

  • Coordinating new starter onboarding and inductions
  • Preparing offer letters, contracts and changes to employment terms
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and updating the HR system
  • Supporting monthly payroll preparation and employee benefits
  • Coordinating training and learning and development activities
  • Assisting with appraisals, promotions and salary reviews
  • Managing day-to-day queries through the People inbox
  • Producing HR reports and handling confidential employee information
  • Supporting leave, recognition and long-service processes
  • Improving HR templates, trackers and administrative processes
  • Building positive relationships with employees, managers and senior stakeholders

This is not a role where you will be limited to one area of HR. You will gain practical experience across the People function, with plenty of opportunity to take greater ownership as your knowledge and confidence develop.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Previous experience as an HR Assistant, People Assistant, HR Administrator or in a similar role
  • A good understanding of HR administration and employee lifecycle processes
  • Experience with onboarding, contracts, HR systems, payroll administration or benefits
  • Strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information
  • A warm, professional and helpful communication style
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
  • A proactive attitude and genuine desire to develop your HR career

Experience within professional services, legal services or a similar corporate environment would be beneficial, but applications from candidates with relevant transferable HR experience are also welcomed.

You do not need to know everything already. What matters most is that you have a good foundation in HR, are organised and switched-on, and are keen to learn.

Why Apply?

You will be joining a friendly and collaborative People team that will support your development while encouraging you to take ownership of your work.

The organisation is established and successful, with a close-knit HR team and genuine opportunities to broaden your experience and progress over the longer term. xwzovoh

Once you are fully established in the role, hybrid working is available, with four days in the Manchester office and one day working remotely.

If you are looking for a varied People Assistant role where you can learn, develop and take the next step in your HR career, we would love to hear from you.
