Consultant Psychiatrist - CAMHS

£200,000 per annum

14 bed adolescent ward

You will work within a dedicated adolescent inpatient unit supporting individuals aged 13 to 18 who require intensive assessment and treatment. The postholder will play a central role in clinical leadership, care planning, and risk management, ensuring that care is trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to individual needs.


Essential Criteria:

  • Full registration with a licence to practise from the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or eligibility within six months of completion of training.
  • Significant experience working within child and adolescent mental health services, including inpatient settings.
  • Strong clinical, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, ethical practice, and trauma-informed care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and ongoing management for young people admitted to the service.
  • Lead the development of individualised, formulation-driven treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Prescribe and monitor medication in line with current clinical guidelines and best practice standards.
  • Conduct regular ward reviews, care planning meetings, and statutory assessments where required.
  • Work closely with families and carers, ensuring they are actively involved in assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
  • Liaise with external professionals, including community mental health teams, social care, and educational services, to ensure continuity of care. xwzovoh
