Job Title

Education Inclusion Officer (temporary, maternity leave cover)

Salary

Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to the pending 2026/2027 national pay award. The final salary will be adjusted accordingly once this has been agreed.

Overview

To support the authority and its schools in meeting statutory responsibilities related to school attendance and associated matters, and to assist schools, children, and families in ensuring regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Challenge and support individual schools on pupil attendance and advise on best practice.
• Support parents in fulfilling their legal duty to educate their child(ren).
• Undertake casework with identified pupils.
• Collaborate with other departments and agencies as required.
• Perform specialist work on behalf of the service as agreed with the line manager.

Qualifications & Skills

• Ability to work on own initiative and prioritize workload.
• Strong organisation skills, ability to analyse data and produce reports.
• Willingness to challenge schools on implementation of good practice and to challenge attitudes that may compromise a child’s right to a full and efficient education; apply legal interventions when necessary.
• Ability to work effectively within a multi‑agency context.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Degree of fluency in Welsh language.
