About the role

As a Mechanical Fitter/Assembler , you will be responsible for assembling, testing, inspecting and preparing units in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards and production schedules.

You will ensure that all work is completed Right First Time (RFT) and On Time in Full (OTIF), while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.

Working collaboratively within the Assembly team and across other functions, you will play a key role in ensuring customer and contractual requirements are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
Follow relevant quality plans, procedures and work instructions to ensure products meet required standards.
Assemble and disassemble units and components safely and efficiently.
Carry out rigging and de-rigging activities in accordance with approved procedures and safety requirements.
Prepare and paint units and components as required prior to despatch.
Safely and accurately use a range of measuring and inspection equipment.
Produce accurate dimensional inspection reports and strip inspection reports.
Carry out pressure testing of components and complete units, ensuring all relevant documentation is accurately completed.
Demonstrate competent and safe use of pneumatic and electrical hand tools.
Accurately book on to and close manufacturing operations using the company ERP system.
Work effectively as part of the Assembly team and with cross-functional teams to achieve contractual, quality and delivery requirements.
Support the achievement of Right First Time (RFT) and On Time in Full (OTIF) targets.
Carry out regular 5S activities to maintain a clean, organised and efficient working environment.
Maintain a strong safety culture and contribute to a zero-accident working environment.
Identify and report any health, safety, quality or process issues and deviations to the appropriate Manager or Supervisor.
Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with documented Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, instructions and regulatory requirements.
Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship, quality, housekeeping and professional conduct.

What You'll Need

Essential

Minimum 4 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment, with proven mechanical fitting experience.
A recognised qualification in a mechanical engineering or mechanical discipline.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Competent use of mechanical measuring and inspection equipment.
Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
A strong commitment to health and safety and quality standards.Desirable

Time-served mechanical craft apprenticeship.
Experience within a high-value engineering or complex manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and 5S methodology.
