Job Title: Town Planner Location: Northampton Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected property and development consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their team in Northampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Town Planner with a planning policy or site promotion background to join a commercially focused environment, working across a diverse portfolio of projects including residential, mixed-use, and strategic land developments. The successful candidate will gain strong exposure to development-led planning and client-facing work. This is a great opportunity for planners who: * Enjoy working on strategic and site-specific planning projects * Want exposure to appeals, pre-apps and major developments * Are looking to progress their career in a supportive, collaborative team THE ROLE As a Town Planner, you will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission and determination. Depending on your level, you will either manage your own schemes or take the lead on more complex developments, supporting wider team delivery and developing your expertise as a Town Planner within a dynamic and growing team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Managing planning applications and appeals * Preparing high-quality planning reports and supporting documentation * Undertaking site appraisals and development feasibility assessments * Supporting site promotion and strategic land projects * Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key stakeholders * Attending client meetings, site visits, and consultations * Supporting pre-application discussions and major developments * Assisting with project coordination and delivery WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline * MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership * Experience within a planning consultancy, developer, or similar environment * Background in planning policy and/or site promotion * Strong understanding of the UK planning system * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Strong organisational and time management abilities * A proactive and commercially aware approach WHAT'S ON OFFER * Competitive salary and benefits package (dependent on experience) * Opportunity to work within a development-focused environment * Exposure to strategic land and major planning projects * Supportive and collaborative team environment * Clear progression opportunities and professional development Interested?
