Civils Contracts Manager – Civils, Infrastructure & Utilities
Location: Cardiff / South Wales
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 basic (DOE)
Job Type: Permanent
A well‑established civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure works across South Wales is seeking an experienced Civils Contracts Manager to join its senior leadership team.
The business operates across highways, structures, water & wastewater, energy and public‑sector infrastructure, working with long‑standing clients and frameworks. Due to continued growth and a strong forward workload, they are strengthening their contracts and delivery function.
The Role
You will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple live civil engineering projects, acting as the senior interface between site teams, commercial staff and clients.
Responsibilities include:
* Overseeing several concurrent civils and infrastructure schemes
* Leading and supporting Project Managers and Site Managers
* Managing programme, risk and delivery performance across projects
* Maintaining strong commercial control (change, variations, budgets) alongside the commercial team
* Acting as senior escalation point for technical, contractual and delivery issues
* Ensuring works are delivered in compliance with HSEQ standards and company procedures
* Supporting pre‑construction planning, tender handovers and project start‑ups
About You
You will be an established Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager ready to step up, with solid civils experience.
Essential:
* Proven experience delivering civil engineering or infrastructure projects
* Background in one or more of:
* highways & structures
* water / wastewater
* utilities or energy civils
* structural concrete / remediation
* Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
* Ability to manage multiple projects and site teams
* SMSTS & CSCS
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Experience working within public‑sector or utility frameworks
* Strong regional supply‑chain knowledge across South Wales
