Senior Ecologist - Leeds

An established, employee-focused environmental and engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join its growing team in Leeds. The successful candidate will take the lead on a range of ecological projects, from early feasibility through to delivery, working across sectors such as infrastructure, residential, and renewable energy. They will be responsible for managing surveys, reporting, client liaison, and supporting junior team members.
Key Responsibilities;
Leading and managing ecological surveys, including habitat and protected species work
Producing high-quality technical reports, including PEAs, EIAs, and management plans
Providing expert advice to clients and multidisciplinary teams
Mentoring and supporting junior ecologists
Managing project timelines, budgets, and client expectations
Supporting business development and contributing to tender submissions
You will ideally have;
Proven experience in ecological consultancy, ideally within the UK
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, and best practice
Experience in project management and client-facing roles
Excellent report writing and communication skills
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEEM), ideally working toward or holding chartership
Protected species licences (desirable but not essential)
