Design Engineer

Job Title: Senior Development DesignerDirect Report: Development Director Location: UK, Loughborough Job PurposeTo lead, implement, and manage an effective design and development function, ensuring the company’s design control framework, competitiveness, and strategic objectives are consistently achieved and maintained. Key Duties Agree design solutions in collaboration with Sales and Creative teams. Take overall responsibility for the design and development direction across all projects. Ensure specifications and all relevant documentation are uploaded to Source within agreed timelines. Manage workload effectively to ensure all deadlines are met. Provide technical support to production, including assembly setup through to first-off manufacture.Key Responsibilities Ensure all designs are delivered within approved project budgets. Ensure all required technical details (specifications, BOMs, drawings, etc.) are complete and accurate for smooth handover to internal and external production teams. Ensure all design solutions align with company best practice, including materials, features, and engineering techniques. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy. Conduct testing of components prior to production to ensure suitability and performance. Maintain secure storage and management of all project data in line with company procedures and protocols. Ensure all design work complies with health, safety, and environmental requirements. Undertake domestic and international travel when required for customer meetings, site visits, and surveys.Key Performance Measures Number of design errors or instances of rework resulting from design issues. Successful completion of design projects on time and within budget. Compliance with company procedures and best practices in development and engineering. Effectiveness in managing development resources to meet agreed project timelines
