About the Opportunity
Compass Associates have partnered with a valued client and well-established, multi-site elderly care provider to find a Regional Operations Director to oversee a portfolio of 8 residential and nursing homes across Hertfordshire.
This is a senior leadership role with real scope. You’ll have full responsibility for performance, quality, and day-to-day operations across the region. Reporting into the Director of Care, you’ll be key in making sure CQC and quality standards are consistently high, homes are well-run, and teams feel supported.
The homes themselves are stable, with experienced Home Managers in place. The focus here is on building on that foundation improving performance where needed, tightening up processes, and creating a culture where people take ownership and pride in what they do.
The Role
You’ll take full ownership of the region, working closely with your Home Managers to deliver strong results both in terms of care and commercial performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership and direction across 8 care homes
- Supporting, coaching, and developing Home Managers to get the best out of their teams
- Overseeing KPIs, occupancy, and budgets across the region
- Ensuring homes are aligned with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and always inspection-ready
- Spotting underperformance early and putting clear plans in place to address it
- Encouraging a culture where quality, accountability, and resident care come first
- Working with senior leadership on wider business priorities and growth plans
About You
We’re looking for someone who knows how to run a region, someone who’s comfortable being both strategic and hands-on when needed.
You’ll bring:
- Experience managing multiple care homes and improving performance across them
- A solid understanding of CQC expectations and what good looks like in practice
- The confidence to challenge where needed, but also support and develop your managers
- Strong commercial awareness, including budgets, occupancy, and KPIs
- A visible leadership style, someone who shows up, builds relationships, and earns trust
- A nursing qualification isn’t essential. xwzovoh
Why This Role?
- A settled group of homes with good people already in place
- The chance to make a real impact without needing to start from scratch
- Close working relationship with senior leadership
- A provider that supports development and progression
The Offer
- £85,000 – £90,000 base salary
- Car allowance
- Performance-related bonus
- 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
- Pension scheme
- Wellbeing and employee benefits programme
- Ongoing professional development and progression opportunities
