Warehouse Plastic & Metal Refurbishment

Job Purpose To refurbish, repair, restore, and prepare plastic and metal products or components for reuse, resale, or further production. The role involves inspecting items, removing damage or defects, carrying out surface preparation, applying repairs and finishes, and ensuring all completed work meets the required quality standards. Key Responsibilities Plastic refurbishment * Inspect plastic components for cracks, scratches, dents, discolouration, and other defects. * Clean and degrease plastic surfaces before refurbishment. * Remove old coatings, stickers, adhesives, and surface contamination. * Sand, smooth, polish, and prepare plastic surfaces. * Apply plastic-compatible primers, paints, coatings, or finishes where required. * Use heat treatment or plastic welding equipment where trained and authorised. * Ensure refurbished plastic components meet specified appearance and functional requirements. Metal refurbishment * Inspect metal parts for rust, corrosion, dents, scratches, and general wear. * Clean and prepare metal surfaces using appropriate tools and methods. * Remove rust, old paint, coatings, and contaminants. * Carry out minor repairs, filling, grinding, and surface finishing. * Prepare surfaces for painting, powder coating, plating, or other finishing processes. * Use hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment safely. * Identify metal components that require specialist repair or cannot be refurbished. Quality control * Check completed work against drawings, specifications, photographs, or quality standards. * Identify defects and carry out rework where necessary. * Ensure refurbished items are clean, presentable, and ready for the next stage. * Maintain consistent standards of finish and workmanship. * Sanding machines and abrasive tools * Drills and hand tools * Heat guns and plastic welding equipment (where applicable) * Cleaning and degreasing equipment * Paint spray equipment or brushes * Surface preparation materials * Measuring and inspection tools PPE * Safety glasses or face protection * Protective gloves * Respiratory protection where required * Hearing protection * Protective workwear and safety footwear
