About the Role
Humly is seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Teacher of Design Technology (DT) to join an outstanding SEND school in South Shields. This is a full-time position for the remainder of the academic year, with the potential to become permanent.

The school caters for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student is supported to thrive.
This role is ideal for a creative and adaptable teacher who is committed to delivering engaging, hands-on learning experiences tailored to the needs of all learners.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging DT lessons tailored to pupils with MLD and SLD
* Adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of learning needs
* Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
* Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
* Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress effectively
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and support staff
* Contribute to EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
* Maintain high expectations for behaviour and engagement
* Promote independence, confidence, and life skills through practical learning
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
* Experience working with SEND pupils (MLD/SLD desirable)
* Strong understanding of adaptive teaching and inclusive practice
* Excellent classroom management and communication skills
* A patient, creative, and flexible approach to teaching
* Commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs
