Toolmaker (Press Tooling) – 4 Day Working Week Location: Birmingham Salary: Up to £19.50 per hour Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and reputable manufacturing business with a fully equipped, modern toolroom. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Toolmaker to join a stable and supportive team environment, working a highly desirable 4-day week. This role is ideal for a skilled individual who takes pride in precision engineering and enjoys working on a variety of press tooling projects within a busy domestic toolroom. Key Responsibilities Repair, maintain, and modify existing press tooling to a high standard Manufacture and develop small tools, jigs, and fixtures (where required) Carry out fault finding and problem-solving on tooling issues Work on a range of tooling including single action, progression, and transfer tools Read and interpret 2D engineering drawings, ensuring adherence to tight tolerances Operate a variety of toolroom machinery including XYZ milling machines, surface grinders (540), cylindrical grinders, and lathes Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to high quality standards Candidate Requirements Apprentice-trained Toolmaker with a minimum of 10 years’ post-qualification experience Strong background in metal pressings and press tooling Proven experience working with single action, progression, and transfer tools Confident fault-finding and problem-solving abilities Ability to work from engineering drawings with precision and accuracy Self-motivated with the ability to use own initiative Must have own basic tools and toolbox (some equipment provided on-site) Stable work history with references available What’s on Offer Competitive pay rate up to £19.50 per hour 4-day working week (Monday to Thursday) – great work/life balance Overtime available at enhanced rates Auto-enrolment pension scheme Flexible holiday allowance with average holiday pay Full PPE provided Free on-site parking Supportive and well-organised working environment If this opportunity sounds like it is made for you, please don’t hesitate contacting Jodie Hodgson
