Building Surveyor

The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Interim Surveyor to support a prominent Social Housing provider. This 6-month role is designed for a technical professional who can hit the ground running, managing a diverse caseload of maintenance issues and ensuring the regional housing stock remains safe, compliant, and well-maintained. Key Responsibilities * Technical Inspections: Perform comprehensive site visits to diagnose building defects, focusing on structural integrity and condition assessments. * Case Management: Oversee repair projects from the initial diagnostic stage through to final sign-off, specifically addressing damp, mould, and complex structural repairs. * Specifications & Tendering: Create detailed technical reports and schedules of work to guide contractor delivery. * Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities align with current health and safety legislation and social housing regulatory standards. * Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between tenants, internal housing teams, and external contractors to ensure work is completed on time. * Documentation: Keep rigorous digital records of inspections, budgets, and completed work orders. Candidate Profile To be successful in this role, you should possess: * Sector Expertise: A solid background in social housing maintenance or local authority property services. * Diagnostic Skills: A deep understanding of building pathology, with the ability to identify the root causes of damp and general building failures. * Qualifications: A relevant technical qualification such as an HNC/HND or Degree in Building Surveying or a related construction field. * Project Oversight: Proven experience in managing contractors and monitoring the quality of on-site remedial works Package at a Glance * Pay: £40-45 per hour (via Umbrella). * Hours: Full-time (37.5 – 40 hours). * Duration: 6 months with a strong likelihood of extension based on performance
