Teacher of Music
Location: Torfaen, Wales
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday 8:30am -3pm)
Pay: £172.98 to £200 per day (depending on experience.)
A supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Torfaen is seeking a creative, enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of Music to join their Performing Arts department from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to developing students' musical skills and fostering a lifelong appreciation of music across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
ECTs/NQTs and experienced teachers are warmly encouraged to apply.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality Music lessons, encouraging students to explore performance, composition, listening, and music theory. You will play a key role in developing students' confidence, creativity, and teamwork through practical and theoretical music education.
You will also be expected to contribute to the school's wider Performing Arts provision, including extra-curricular clubs, rehearsals, and performances.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Ability to teach Music across KS3 and KS4
Strong subject knowledge in Music theory, performance, and composition
A dynamic and creative approach to teaching
Passion for inspiring young musicians
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
Ability to engage and motivate learners of all abilities
Desirable:
Experience teaching GCSE Music
Ability to lead or support extra-curricular ensembles (choir, band, orchestra, etc.)
ECT/NQT applications welcome
Understanding of the Curriculum for Wales
Essential Safeguarding & Compliance:
Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
