Legal Assistant / Paralegal

Salary: up to £29,000
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join a well-established law firm within its Private Client department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in Private Client law, working closely with experienced Fee Earners and gaining hands-on experience across a range of matters, including wills, probate, and estate administration.
You will play a key role in supporting the team, managing client matters, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department, while delivering a high standard of client care.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing client matters efficiently and accurately using the firm’s case management system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Supporting Fee Earners with a range of Private Client matters, including wills, probate, and estate administration.
Preparing, organising, and maintaining legal files and all supporting documentation to a high standard.
Drafting and preparing client correspondence using digital dictation, audio typing, and word processing.
Coordinating diary management for Fee Earners, including arranging client meetings and appointments.
Handling client and third-party telephone calls and enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
Assisting with the witnessing of wills and other legal documents.
Supporting billing processes, including preparing client invoices and maintaining account ledgers.
Managing incoming emails, post, and general administrative duties, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
Providing support to colleagues and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
What we’re looking for:
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal is essential.
Experience within Private Client law is desirable.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems (e.g. Proclaim).
A team-oriented approach, with a positive and professional attitude.
A commitment to delivering excellent client service.
