Remote Plan Checker – Building Control Officer (Class 2A Minimum) | Local Authority A forward-thinking Local Authority Building Control team is seeking an experienced Remote Plan Checker to support increased workload on a flexible contract basis. This role is ideal for a qualified Building Control Officer (Class 2A minimum) with strong public sector experience and familiarity with the Uniform system, looking for consistent part-time work. Role Overview: Working as part of a Local Authority Building Control service, you will be responsible for reviewing submitted plans and ensuring compliance with current UK Building Regulations and associated legislation. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility while supporting statutory service delivery. Key Details: * Position: Remote Plan Checker (Building Control) * Employer: Local Authority * Qualification: Registered Building Inspector – Class 2A (minimum) * Location: Fully Remote * Commitment: 2–3 days per week * Contract Type: 3-month rolling contract * Rate: £40–£55 per hour (DOE) Key Responsibilities: * Assess building regulation applications in line with statutory requirements * Ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and relevant legislation * Provide professional advice and written feedback to applicants, agents, and internal stakeholders * Use the Uniform system to manage and process applications efficiently * Support the Local Authority in maintaining service delivery targets * Work collaboratively with surveyors and other departments where required Requirements: * Registered Building Inspector (Class 2A or higher) * Previous experience working within a Local Authority Building Control team * Proven experience using the Uniform system * Strong working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and enforcement processes * Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines * Excellent written communication and report-writing skills What’s on Offer: * Flexible, fully remote working * Competitive hourly rate * Opportunity to support a public sector service * Ongoing contract with potential for extension If you have Local Authority Building Control experience and are confident using Uniform, we encourage you to apply
